High school reunion

So we went. The food was good. There were people from all different classes there so there were a lot of people that I didn't know, but the class of 2000 showed up. Everyone kinda looked the same. I got some compliments about me and the hubby which was nice. And no one noticed I looked any different except for the hair. Bueno!

Thanksgiving aftermath

I feel lousy. So yesterday my hubby and I got ambitious and walked just shy of 6 miles to see a movie. We made pretty good time getting there. And it was only $5 a pop because it was a holiday and before noon. We saw Quantum of Solice. It was good but it was more like a jason bourne flick than a james bond flick. But it was still good. So then we hoofed it back home and both of us were hurting by then. Then we headed to my mom's house for dinner. She put her foot it in. Turkey, ham, stuffing and gravy, mac and cheese, greens, yams, asparagus, and cranberry sauce. I had two plates. Which was not a good idea on many levels. I tummy has been in knots ever since. I woke up this morning feeling 10 pounds heavier and like I got hit with a truck. We have enough left overs to last at least 2 weeks. And to think, my class reunion is in a couple of days. I hope I recover by then.

Silver Lining

So today was not a good day. It starts with me rushing to get the drapes down before the window installers come. I am greeted with the sound of urgent voice mails proclaiming all my patients are in the hospital. And one who was already in lost her toes and had a stroke. So I am late for person number one and I spend way too much time there so of course I am late for person number two. In my infinite wisdom (note sarcastic tone) I left my GPS in the window. So of course someone decided to relieve me of it, by punching out a window. At least they didn't take anything else, like the whole car. So I end up sending 2 hours at person number 2's house calling the cops. Who by the way didn't even come out! they just called me back to get the info to file a police report and said tough cookies. I ended up cancelling the rest of the visits for the day, which was not a lot given the fact that all my patients went to the hospital as I said earlier. Luckily I found a place to fix the window for me. Because the broke into my car early in the day the auto place was able to go pick up what they needed and fix my window same day. He vacuumed out the glass and cleaned it up real nice. And I found the WaWa card I though I lost. So I think I will treat myself t a cup of coffee and be glad I didn't totally freak out today. I think I earned it. BTW- the windows came out beautiful.

further modification

So I just don't know how to stop. The only area that I have not done anything too is the hallway/washer area in the basement. After the success in the basement main room I find myself contemplating what to do in the hallway. I am thinking blue walls and continue the same floor from the main room into the hallway. Of course my mom is no help. She just wants to know when I want to get started because she gets just as excited about this stuff as I do. I found myself up until 1 am last night reorganizing drawers, sorting thru towels, and contemplating ceiling options. Part of me is a little scared of when I did finish the basement. Then what will I do. Then I remembered, we are getting new windows, and there is still the hardwood floors that need to be refinished. The should be a home improvement anonymous for people like me.

Basement Makeover

Okay so Kevin was in England for a whole week. Sucks for me that I couldn't go with, but it gave me a perfect opportunity to do something for my hubby. I don't know if it was the lack of sleep, but after dropping him off at the airport at 4 something in the morning, I got the bright idea to redo the basement for him while he was gone. So I went home and started cleaning and moving things out of the room. Once it was a decent hour, I called my mom for advice (she is the home improvement queen you know) and some of his friends for decorating input. So on Sat I got the entire room emptied except for the freezer (too big), the 2 sofas (too big and heavy), and his video game cabinet (way too big and heavy). I washed the walls, swept the floor, and primed the walls. Sunday - I started painting the walls, picked up and installed new drop ceiling tiles, and picked out the fabric for custom cushions for this huge built in bench in the room. Monday and Tues were spent finishing the painting and cleaning. It took too days because at this point I actually had to go back to work during the day. Wed was spent looking for Giants gear for the room and doing touch up work. Thurs and Fri- Mom and I laid a new vinyl floor and made Giants bar stools to go with his video game cabinet as well as a curtain to match the fabric from the custom cushions. Sat - I cleaned up the room again, hung the curtains, found more giants stuff, got rained on walking to get a picture frame for the Lawrence Taylor pic I found for him, and took a nap. Whew! The room is painted linen (off white with cool tones) and the ceiling is bright white. The bench has full size cushions and matching throw pillows. All of his fav posters are framed and hung on the walls. I installed shelving to display his varied collection of do dads. His 3 foot Millenium Falcon finally has a home we can both live with. And his 2 TV set up is back in full effect. I put a bow on the door and closed it up before I went to pick him up from the airport. I wish I had a camera to capture the look on him face when he saw it. He was shocked that I got it done in a week. And he loves it, which was my main goal.
